In news today…

On November 7th, Bradley County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to a business burglary in Southeast Bradley County.

Upon arrival, units discovered the suspect had already left the scene. It was also noticed that forced entry was made into a garage at the location and a restored 1940 Ford pickup truck was stolen.

On November 9th, McMinn County Sheriff’s Office detectives located the vehicle at a residence in Riceville. They then contacted the Bradley County Sheriff’s Office. BCSO Criminal Investigation Division detectives responded to process the scene and collect additional information.

Further investigation led to arrest warrants being issued on Ryan Ellis for Burglary and Theft Over $60,000.

In the early morning hours of November 13th, Ellis was taken into custody by Bradley County Patrol Deputies at his mother’s residence and transported to the Bradley County Jail, where he is being held without bond pending an upcoming court hearing.

From the Cleveland Daily Banner…

Autumn Hughes reports: An odor monitoring system at the Bradley County Landfill is closer to installation  if sites for monitoring equipment can be secured.

Bradley County Road Superintendent Sandra Knight, who has been tasked with overseeing the system, told the Bradley County Commission’s Road Committee Monday that the weather tower is on landfill property.

In addition, one monitoring station will go behind the Road Department office, and the contract for another one closer to the landfill has been signed.

However, two other property owners for whom Knight had prepared contracts later decided against allowing their property to be used.

The equipment is part of a plan the commission approved earlier this year to monitor noxious odors rising from the landfill. The decision to install monitoring equipment came after months of residents near the landfill complaining about the smell.
