Governor Bill Lee issued a state wide two week “safer at home” order effective Tuesday night March 31 at 11:59 PM until April 14. The order stops short of mandating people stay at home. Governor Lee said it is deeply important to him to protect people’s personal liberties. The order also closes all nonessential businesses. Read the full orders below, for a list of non-essential, and essential businesses and services.

A message from Bradley County Schools:

This is Bradley County’s Plan if school closure is extended. As of now, they are planning for original dates.

Bradley County and Cleveland City Schools will be closed until April 24th.

Free Breakfast & Lunch Cleveland  City Schools:

Free Breakfast & Lunch Bradley County Schools:

 Beginning Monday, March 23rd food will be available to students by bus. Meals will be delivered on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays. Both breakfast and lunch will be delivered on these days.Buses will run normal school routes beginning at 11:00 AM to deliver food on these days. Students or a family member should be at the closest bus stop approximately 4.5 hours after their normal morning pickup time. For example, if your pickup is normally at 7:00 AM, food will be delivered at 11:30 AM. Food is available for ALL students at the stops, not just bus riders. We will have meals for ages 0 to 18 at all delivery and pickup sites. Stationary feeding sites will remain open at Park View Elementary and Food City locations on McGrady Drive and Ocoee Crossing on Monday, Wednesday and Friday as well from 7:45-9:00 and 10:30-1:00. If a family is in need of specific assistance for delivery, please contact the school their child attends.

4/2 Trustee Mike Smith has announced there will be no public entry into the Trustee’s Office at 1701 Keith Street effective April 3 at 7:00 AM. Staff will be available via telephone Monday-Thursday 8:30-4:30 and on Friday 8:30-5:00 @ (423) 728-7247. For information on 2018 or earlier tax bills, please contact the Clerk & Master’s office at (423) 728-7209.

3/31 The Governor through executive orders has given an extension on vehicle renewal and new registrations. You now have until June 15 to get your car registered or renew the tag. There is a 6 month extension on your driver’s license. There is also an extension on your business tax return for both filing and payments until June 15, 2020.

3/30 Cleveland  High School is currently planning for graduation on May 15th at 6:00. They have also planned two back-up dates in case the CDC restrictions on large gatherings continue, June 12th and July 10th at 6:00. They  intend to have all other senior events, pending our return to school on April 27th.They  will be distributing caps and gowns at a later date. 3/30 Bowater Credit Union now offers extended hours at our Drive-Thrus and by phone.  In order to serve members better while our lobbies are closed, our extended hours are as follows: Athens, Hardwick Farms Cleveland, & King St Cleveland: Monday – Friday 8:30am – 6pm, Saturday 9am – 12:30pm. Calhoun: Monday – Friday 7:30am – 5:30pm, Saturday 9am – 12:30pm Our online services and automated phone service are always available 24/7, and if any member needs help accessing our online services we’re happy to help. 3/30 Under the direction of Sheriff Lawson and his administration, the Bradley County Jail has extended the temporary hold on all in-person visitation and activities involving outside staffing. Further restrictions have been put in place in the courts as well. In accordance to an order made by Tenn. Supreme Court, any in-person interactions in court have been put on hold until April 30. Due to this, court will continue to be conducted via video conferencing for our inmates.

3/30 The 101st International General Assembly of the Church of God of Prophecy has been canceled.

3/30 Cleveland Utilities has extended its suspension of disconnects for non-payment from Monday, March 30, to Monday, April 6. We are asking any customer who is having difficulty paying their bill to call us to discuss available payment arrangements. 3/27 Habitat For Humanity ReStore and offices are temporarily closed as of Tuesday, March 24 and  plan to open again on Tuesday, April 7.

3/23 Teachers Federal Credit Union:  temporarily closed their lobbies effective Tuesday, March 24th. You will still be able to access your cash and other services you need by Drive-Thru, phone, and online. They will continue doing loans by appointment and allowing members inside the building for that purpose. 

3/20 Cleveland State Community College has made the decision to shut down public and student access to its locations in Cleveland, Athens, and Vonore, Tennessee. No course instruction of any kind will take place on any of Cleveland State’s locations through the end of the spring semester. Faculty and staff will be allowed job-specific access to the campus and be required to follow health and safety protocols while on campus. The Cleveland Bradley Business Incubator (CBBI) will be the only portion of any CSCC site that non-CSCC personnel will be able to access during this time.

3/20 Southland Finance – Lobby closed – drop box/drive thru only – all loan closings by appointment only.

3/20 Southern Heritage Bank – lobbies closed at both locations – drive thru open- call to set up appointments.

3/20 Riverbend 2020 postponed indefinitely.

3/19 Effective Friday, March 20, all Southern Heritage Bank offices in Cleveland and Chattanooga will close the lobbies until public health officials advise it is safe to resume normal operations.    All business can be completed by drive-thru window, phone, mobile app, online banking or by appointment (call 473-7980).

3/18 The Cleveland/ Bradley County Chamber of Commerce office will be closed to the public. People can still call the Chamber, as well as access the Chamber website at Clevelandchamber.com

3/18 Per the Tennessee Supreme Court: All in-person Municipal Court proceedings have been suspended until after March 31, 2020. If you have a court date during that period of time you will be notified with your new court date as soon as court proceedings can resume.

*From City of Cleveland:

A State of Emergency has been called for the State of Tennessee, and extraordinary measures must be taken to contain COVID-19 and prevent its spread into our community.  In an effort to be cautious, all of the City’s Boards and Committees are hereby cancelled until after March 31st.  Please feel free to contact City Hall at 423-472-4551 with any questions.

3/17 AMC Theatres locations are now closed for at least 6-12 weeks.

3/17 The YMCA has made the decision to close 4 facility branches (Downtown, Hamilton, Cleveland & North River) for a minimum of 2 weeks. This will be EFFECTIVE 5 A.M. WEDNESDAY, MARCH 18. Branches will remain open until closing today, March 17.

3/16 The Caring Place is open this week, but food only delivered to vehicle. Everyone will need to enter via 2nd street via Linden Ave. Wildwood entrance will be exit only. Hours will be Tuesday – Friday 9am to 12pm and Tuesday night 5pm-8pm.

3/16 UTC suspending in person classes for the rest of the spring semester.

3/14 From Tennova Healthcare Cleveland  – Effective Monday March 16, 2020, we will have modified visitor protocols in place to protect our patients and caregiving team. These include: 2 entry points into the facility (Our main lobby from 5 am to 6 pm and our Emergency Room 24/7); posting signage informing people with fever or respiratory symptoms that they may not visit patients; limiting visitors to one immediate family member, partner or significant other ages 18 and older per patient at any given time; and not permitting children under the age of 18 to visit.

3/13 All Tivoli Theatre, Walker Theatre, and Memorial Auditorium Showings have been canceled until April 3.

3/13 Cleveland Family YMCA PAUSE ALL GROUP EXERCISE CLASSES AND YMCA PROGRAMMING (Youth Sports, Swim Lessons, Child Watch, Healthy Living Programs, etc.) for 2 weeks.

3/13 Bradley County Courthouse suspends in-person proceedings until March 31.
