Here is today’s news on mymix1041.com, sponsored by Toyota of Cleveland:

In news today…

The Veterans Day service originally scheduled for today at the courthouse, has been moved inside to the American Legion due to impending bad weather. It begins at 11AM today.

From the Chattanoogan…

The Cleveland City Schools Board of Education is having a dedication ceremony for the Cleveland High School’s Junior Reserve Officer’s Training Corp’s room.

The classroom is being named after Mayor Emeritus Tom Rowland, the city of Cleveland’s longest serving Mayor. The Classroom will be named the Colonel Tom Rowland Air Force JROTC Classroom.

The Cleveland City Schools Board of Education approved this bestowment earlier this year to honor Mayor Emeritus Rowland for his 27 years of dedicated service to the city of Cleveland and his long-term commitment to Cleveland City Schools.

The dedication ceremony will take place at 9:30 a.m. on Monday, at the Cleveland High School Raider Arena Lobby at 850 Raider Drive, Cleveland, Tn. 37312.

From WRCB Channel 3…

Bradley County veterans are working together to bring new life to the Veterans of Foreign Wars post.

The building was declared a total loss after a fire two months ago.

Every couple of days, Ernie Griggs will still check the mail at the VFW post.

Veterans are waiting on the go-ahead from the insurance company to rebuild the VFW.

They own the land. Insurance will cover the structure, but not the contents.

Firefighters were only able to save one plaque from the VFW fire. Griggs said it likely came from a soldier from World War II or Korea. Griggs is hoping other soldiers will donate historic items to restock their collection.

VFW members want to replace this building with another 10,000 square foot building, so the community can continue to use it too.

Veterans will meet this Tuesday at 7:00 pm at the American Legion building to discuss final plans for the future of the VFW building.
