The Bradley County Commission on Monday authorized Mayor D. Gary Davis to renew the contract with the SPCA for a new four-year term. The first two years at $199,000 per year, and the last two years at $206,000 per year.
The contract also includes money to fix the roof of the building.

The Bradley County Commission Monday voted to seek bids on improvements at Lake Forest Middle School building number seven including roof replacement, and to restore power to the building.
The Commission also voted to accept the recommendation of the building and land committee to use proceeds from the sale of a county owned home that housed the Road Dept to pay for the demolition of buildings at Lake Forest, the old McDonald school, and the old Waterville school. However, the commission is sending the resolution back to the building and land committee to decide the order of the demolitions.

The local car salesman at the center of an FBI investigation has been arrested in Texas over the weekend.
FBI Agents and Task Force Officers who were assigned to the FBI field office along with the Cedar Hill Police Department have arrested Daniel Bryant in Cedar Hill, TX.
Bryant was wanted in Chattanooga on state charges of kidnapping.
He is accused of kidnapping a paralyzed man and taking nearly $200,000 from him while threatening to kill him.

Longtime WRCB news anchor Bill Markham passed away in the early morning hours of Monday, April 15th.
Bill was the evening news anchor and Crimestoppers reporter for WRCB from 1983 until his retirement in 2009. He was 76.
He was a great influence for the younger reporters and photographers who worked with him at WRCB. He is also remembered as a loving father and grandfather.
No arrangements have been announced as of yet.
